Shopee will help local merchants increase sales with more collaborative features

Shopee shared initiatives and resources to support local businesses at Seller Summit 2022

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach – June 20, 2022 – Shopee aims to help local vendors attract more new and returning customers on the platform with new and more collaborative vendor marketing tools.

Kavan Sito, Director of Shopee Malaysia, emphasized that the platform is committed to helping more people and businesses access the benefits of the digital economy through technology.

According to Kavan Sito, Director of Shopee Malaysia, from Q3 of this year all merchants can expect to expand their reach through more than 13,000 Shopee affiliates to gain a wider audience and increase sales through Shopee Affiliate Marketing Solution (AMS).

Affiliate partners include social media influencers, coupon and cashback platforms, price comparison platforms, and content publishers.

Elite sellers who joined AMS between October and December last year saw up to 16x return on their advertising investment.

Speaking at the Shopee Seller Summit on June 16, Sito said reviews are essential to help build trust and attractiveness for an online product. That’s why Shopee will also allow merchants to reward users for leaving helpful product reviews.

Apart from that, the platform will also develop coupon features that will allow sellers to encourage new buyers and reward repeat buyers for their loyalty.

“These are among the many innovative vendor marketing features Shopee will launch in the coming months to help vendors drive long-term business growth,” Sito said.

The Shopee Seller Summit themed “Level Up: Driving Growth Together” was held at Sunway Resort, Petaling Jaya, with 500 physical and nearly 2000 virtual attendees in attendance.

In addition to the free training modules available through Shopee University, Shopee is happy to be a trusted partner for government agencies to support local communities and drive education initiatives that help develop the skills of local businesses. This includes support vendors of all kinds, with nearly 5,000 college student entrepreneurs even starting their online sales journey through Siswa Mall initiatives in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education.”

Shopee Seller Summit is also part of the #ShopeeSapotLokal initiative, which aims to promote inclusion and create more opportunities for local communities.

Kelvin Yam, 46, who runs a stationery store, is an avid user of Shopee programs like Facebook Collaborative Ads (CPAS) and the Merchant Affiliate Program – on the platform, CX Trading said the programs don’t just encourage him to market Shopee products. but it also helped more than double its average monthly sales.

“These programs have helped me a lot in scaling my Shopee business as I’ve seen an almost 5x increase in sales. I currently average RM50,000 in sales per month,” said Yam.

Another 33-year-old seller, Ammar Izzuddin, believes that beyond learning, one should network and learn from other sellers to gain more experience in selling.

Ammar, who sells baby products at Shopee, said, “Through the networking opportunities at Shopee Seller Summit, I gained insight into how other vendors manage their resources as well as how they strategize and anticipate business opportunities. All of this helps us understand how we can do better and scale over the long term. very understanding to help.”

Ammar has been a loyal participant of the Shopee Seller Summit for four consecutive years.

Sellers looking to pass on their skills and knowledge can look forward to applying for the ShopeeXperts program in early August this year. Through this program, selected top performing vendors will receive a 1-month comprehensive training in marketing, operations, sales and presentation skills.
