Former Tiktok Gaming Boss Launches ‘Blockchain Agnostic’ Gaming Company Metao – Blockchain Bitcoin News

Jason Fung, former head of games at Tiktok, a video-based social media company, is launching a blockchain-based gaming startup. The company, called Metao, will allow Web3 game creators to expand their reach and will focus on providing “blockchain-agnostic” solutions that won’t be limited to just one chain and an ecosystem tied to a specific token.

Metao to Focus on Interoperability

Blockchain is becoming a big element in many companies trying to mix gaming with cryptocurrency. Jason Fung, the gaming boss of Tiktok, one of the largest video-based social networks, is reportedly starting a blockchain-based gaming company. The startup, called Metao, will focus on providing a framework for other companies to create blockchain-based games, just as companies like Unity license their technology to others.

This will make developers’ lives easier and focus solely on content while reducing the complexity of integrating these mechanisms on their own. The solution Metao is trying to implement is geared towards increasing interoperability and avoiding the separation many startups face when trying to implement their games on a single chain connected to a token ecosystem.

About this, Fung said:

Currently, if you look at any developer when implementing NFTs or blockchain in their games, they should choose a single blockchain, whether it’s Polygon, Solana, or Binance Smart Chain. But imagine a more interoperable option.

A ‘Blockchain-Agnostic’ Solution

With just eight employees, including Fung and an undisclosed co-founder, the company has developed a technology that will allow developers to publish their games using any of the existing blockchains, with the benefits of allowing each user to store their tokens. their favorite items. Explaining this, Fung said:

We created a protocol for game developers and we take a flexible, blockchain-independent approach to game development. With a protocol we are developing, developers can easily build their game by leveraging the strengths of different blockchains and allow the user the flexibility to cross-chain their NFT.

Web3 and blockchain technologies have been embraced by a number of startups in the gaming space, but none of the truly big players in the industry have designed a major IP game around them. However, companies like Ubisoft and Square Enix have talked about the importance of blockchains and NFTs for the future of the industry and even included this technology as part of their financial plans for the future.
