Wedding Attendant

Are you going to say “I do” to this side hustle? Maria Romano, founder of True Love Knots, said the official wedding, baptism and life celebration ceremony can allow you to earn between $400 and $5,000 a month.

Romano, who has led more than 4,000 ceremonies since it began 12 years ago, said this side concert can be held part-time, with a maximum of two hours each day reserved for communication with clients and internal preparations. The time spent will depend on how many clients you accept per month.

Those interested will need to receive mentorship and have a car to attend ceremonies and meetings. A license is also a requirement, but Romano said it should only cost between $30 and $100 depending on your location.

Lawn Mowing

This side job is more seasonal in nature, but GreenPal CEO Bryan Clayton said it could be an excellent side job that lets you earn extra money each month.

“Many of our lawn care suppliers work part-time,” Clayton said. “The average salesman mows around $55 an hour on our system. They set their own hours and choose the clients they want to work with.”

From teachers who need the extra summer income to college students who work afternoons and weekends, anyone can mow the lawn and scheduling is flexible.

Counselor

Luisa Zhou, founder of LuisaZhou.com, did it on the side when she started her first online business, a digital advertising agency. In four months, the business reached six figures. Since then, Zhou has helped thousands of people start their own side businesses.

“The best sideline business model for making $1,000 a month is a service-based business model, such as coaching, consulting, or freelancing,” Zhou said. “You can start this type of business right away, and because you’re selling your personal time and expertise, you can charge higher prices than if you were selling a product.”

Freelancing as a coach or consultant allows you to charge $50 to $100 an hour and work 10 to 20 hours to earn $1,000 each month. Zhou said that coaching and mentoring can take even less time. You can spend several hours preparing monthly calls, answering calls, and supporting your customers between calls.

There are also several expenses associated with a service-based business. Coaches and mentors will need a laptop and a contract. You can find good contract templates online for less than $500, Zhou said. If you don’t have a website, you can use your LinkedIn profile to build trust with potential customers.

What about experience? You need experience no matter what you’re selling, but Zhou said the good news is that almost everyone has sellable skills. Zhou uses the example that people who love to write can become freelancers and savvy Instagram users can help businesses grow their social media following.

If you decide to explore a service-based business, Zhou recommends setting up retainers. This makes it easier to estimate your revenue and reduces the time it takes to market and sell your services.

Car Sharing Driver

Driving for a ridesharing app is a popular side hobby that allows you to earn several hundred dollars each month, and consistent drivers can earn up to $1,000 or more.

Harry Campbell, CEO and founder of The Rideshare Guy, said many of his clients have become part-time rideshare drivers to earn between $1,000 and $5,000 a month. Having a safe car and driver’s license is a requirement, of course, but Campbell said it was well worth the investment.

Affiliate Marketer

Sal Farzin has 1.7 million followers on TikTok and advises individuals, couples and families to generate additional income through affiliate marketing.

“There are many brands that offer affiliate programs that you can refer to and where you can start earning percentage commissions and/or flat fee commissions based on leads for new signups or brands,” Farzin said.

Farzin took to TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic and built a massive social media following that grew from 0 to 1.7 million followers in less than two years. Farzin’s channel focuses on reviewing cool, innovative products that solve common problems in the lifestyle, home and tech categories, and providing tips and tips for cleaning and DIY.

Affiliate marketing allows you to work from the comfort of your own home, Farzin said. With a part-time or full-time program, you can set your own working hours to fit your schedule. Farzin recommends spending more time at the beginning of your affiliate marketing journey to identify the strategy, core and potential payoffs for your side business. This better increases your chances of success in affiliate marketing commissions.

Sleep Coach

Many people have trouble falling asleep at night or getting the proper amount of healthy sleep their bodies need. Kaley Medina is a pediatric sleep coach and owner of Live Love Sleep, a sleep coaching agency with a team of more than 10 sleep coaches in the United States.

“Sleep coaching is an easy and rewarding side hustle for individuals who want to help their families rest and in addition earn a large amount of extra money,” Medina said.

A sleep counselor offers private one-on-one coaching to families whose child is not sleeping well. They create a customized sleep plan for this family to teach their kids to fall asleep easily before bed, sleep through the night, and take long, restful naps throughout the day. Within two to three weeks of starting work with a sleep coach, Medina said sleep coaches will often offer follow-up support to help their clients answer all their questions and update their sleep plan as needed.

Do you need previous experience to become a sleep coach? In general, the answer is no. But Medina said the start-up costs of becoming a sleep consultant include a certification process. This can range in price from $500 to several thousand dollars. The certification process will teach an individual the skills and techniques they need to become a sleep specialist.

After getting your certification, Medina said the only ongoing overheads to estimate are your smartphone bill, a laptop for writing sleep plans and communicating with customers, marketing materials like business cards and brochures, and a car if you plan to do in-home consultations. Many counselors only offer virtual advice, so a car is optional.

There is even an opportunity to make sleep coaching a full-time side hustle. This has happened to Medina and half of her full-time staff, while the other half continue to use the consulting job as their side job.
